What is Winter Intersession?

Winter Intersession is an accelerated, three-week term during which you can earn up to five credits through fully online, asynchronous courses. 

It's a smart way to get ahead or explore something fun and new. With a wide range of courses designed to match your interests and help you reach your goals, you'll find options that challenge you, inspire you, and move you closer to graduation.

Courses begin on December 22, 2025 and end on January 8, 2026.

Who is eligible for Winter Intersession?

  • Current WVU students.
  • Students who are enrolled at one of WVU’s regional campuses.
  • International students (WVU cannot award visa sponsorship to non-degree international students).

  1. October 6, 2025

    Registration Launch

    Complete and submit the Winter Intersession Request Form to get a seat in the courses you'd like to take.

  2. December 19, 2025

    Registration Closes

    Registration for Winter Intersession closes at 10 a.m. ET.

  3. December 22, 2025

    Classes Begin

    No classes will be held on December 24, December 25, December 26, December 31, and January 1.

  4. December 26, 2025

    Last Day to Drop Without 'W'

    This is the last day for you to drop without a "W"or tuition bill.

  5. January 2, 2026

    Last Day to Withdraw

    Your last day to withdraw and a "W" is recorded for the section.

  6. January 8, 2026

    Classes End

    Your last day of Winter Intersession learning.

  7. January 9, 2026

    Grades Due

    Winter Intersession grades are due by noon.

Classes will not be held on the following dates:
  • December 24, 2025 - Winter Holiday
  • December 25, 2025 - Christmas Day
  • December 26, 2025 - Winter Holiday

  • January 1, 2026 - New Year's Day

Undergraduate Course Costs

Winter Intersession is a flat tuition rate for all students. No tuition discounts apply.
  • 1 credit hour: $479
  • 2 credit hours: $958
  • 3 credit hours: $1,437
  • 4 credit hours: $1,916
  • 5 credit hours: $2,395
Tuition and billing will be generated at the time of registration.
